Ashburton Safety is focused on creating an innovative, female led, Indigenous family-owned and directed business with multiple revenue streams within the Pilbara, primarily employing members of the community.
Merle is a highly esteemed Puutu Kunti Kurrama (PKK) woman who has cultivated business leadership status with key executives in the mining industry, in the Pilbara, and in the PPE industry in Perth, Western Australia. Her vision is to bridge the economic divide that exists between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in the Pilbara. By providing employment-based education and culturally appropriate employment options her goal is to elevate the health and wellbeing of Indigenous people and expand access to the $450-billion mining industry and the burgeoning economy within the Pilbara.
Merle’s goal is to establish a co-management model whereby Ashburton Safety evolves into a legacy company that provides future security for family, employment opportunities for community members, and excellence in product and service delivery to consumers and stakeholders, nationally and internationally
